Vintage Maritime Oil Painting by Karl Strandberg

A splendid wintery, industrial port scene featuring a ship and tug making their way through icy waters. Lovely muted shades and expressive brushwork successfully convey the chill of a Swedish arctic harbour. Signed and dated 1945.

Karl Gustaf Strandberg, was born 1891 and died in February 1981. He was a Swedish painter and cartoonist. He studied art with Olle Hjortzberg and Alfred Bergström at the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm 1919–1925 and was awarded the Royal Medal at the end.
