Mid Century Impressionist Painting by Gideon Isaksson

£425.00

This lovely architectural landscape so vividly captures traditional Swedish red brick architecture. Entitled simply 'Malmöhus' (building in Malmö) the artist has with impressionistic brush strokes masterfully conveyed a mood. His handling of the reflections in the water in the foreground are also technically impressive.

Sven Gideon Isaksson (1922-1980) studied at the Scanian School of Painting in Malmö 1935-1936 and under Kræsten Iversen at the Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, as well as during study trips to Italy, France and Spain. Separately, he exhibited several times in Trelleborg and together with Lennart Rosensohn and Eric Cederberg in Landskrona in 1956. He took part in group exhibitions with Skåne's art association.
