Danish Mid-Century Painting by Svend Åge Larsen

£750.00

A gorgeous Mid-century abstract mixed media work in watercolour and wax pastel by Danish artist Svend Åge Larsen. Deep autumnal shades and flowing abstract forms make this a work that invites gentle reflection.

Larsen (1931-2004) was a visual artist and ceramist and lived in Koblerne between Kulhusvej and Kohave north of Jægerpris on the Roskilde Fjord in Denmark. He was also a teacher at Thorstedlund Art College. He was educated at the School of Applied Arts and the Royal Porcelain Factory. He worked mostly with wax pastels but also made a few oil paintings. In 1988, the Danish Art Association held its spring exhibition with works by Svend Åge Larsen. The exhibition was called Stoneware & Pictures. As part of a major renovation of Frederikssund Church in 1989, the old altarpiece was removed and placed in the side nave. Instead, stained glass mosaics made by Svend Åge Larsen were installed in the three windows in the apse.
