Vintage Swedish Portrait Painting by Ivan Jordell
An absolutely wonderful portrait by the increasingly collectable Swedish artist, Ivan Jordell. This charming picture is one of the finest I have seen of his. The lively colours are muted only by the matt finish of the paint. Jordell was real character who in his biography is described thus: "Those who have come to know Ivan Jordell's art know above all about his people: the wandering and rootless, the marginalized and struggling." He was known for his images that were "Minor-toned but intense in colour or for depictions of solitary figures; circus people; gypsies."
Jordell is represented in numerous public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Muséet in Stockholm, Malmö Museum, Gothenburg Art Museum, Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark) in Copenhagen, as well as museums in Norrköping and Ystad.
Dimensions:
Height 53cm x Width 44 cm (image size). Height 70cm x width 60cm (frame size).
